Timothy “TJ” Stephenson Jr. had a vision one evening when buying his vodka at a local retailer, of bringing to life his own brand. Timothy noticed that the flavors of a Pineapple and Coconut mixture was missing from the market and consumers had to buy the two flavors separately. Timothy, the vodka connoisseur, immediately shared the concept and idea with his wife Whitney. That one night turned into a process of research and development to get perfection.

 

Timothy & Whitney both former US Navy residing in Miami, Florida took to the wonderful things the “Magic City” has to offer. Miami is full of cultural diversity, nightlife, art, architecture, beaches, festivities and great weather.

 

There came the question of what to name the brand and immediately Timothy came to name it “Phoenix” which is their son's name whom was born at 28 weeks with a rare genetic disorder named Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome. The Phoenix bird represents strength and prosperity and in Greek mythology, a Phoenix is a bird that is regenerated or born again. The Phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Therefore, brings the slogan “Emerge A Legend”.

 

Emerging through the timeline of Florida many African descendants arrived and were accompanied by the first Spanish expeditions. Over time many African descendants (Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago) migrants came to settle in Miami, Florida in a place called “Colored Town” also known as “Overtown”.

 

These different African cultures developed the current day Miami we all know and love. These diverse cultures had to come up with ways to migrate and integrate with each other, which in turn aided and developed the start of the Miami nightlife and gatherings. Their determination to improve the economic circumstances for themselves and generations to come created a platform and built the city of Miami around tourism, nightlife and paradise.

 

Timothy recognized that Miami is a plethora of many tropical and Caribbean traditions which incited him to bring Phoenacolada (Pineapple & Coconut Flavored Vodka) to the market as the first official Phoenix Spiritz brand vodka. The warmth of welcoming friendships and hospitality plays an influential part in the launch of Phoenacolada as the history of the pineapple is a traditional welcome throughout the south and the coconut palm represents birth.
